Valerie was almost done when she heard Gabriel call out to her. Only left was to rinse her hair and she would be done. She was about to answer him that she didn't need anything when she suddenly paused. Had she remembered to find towels? Reaching out to where they usually laid she found, nothing. Blushing scarlet red she shook her head. This was going to be awkward. Hopefully the bubbles in her bath would cover her up.

"One moment!"

Ducking under the water she rinsed her hair free of soap and came up again with a soft gasp. Wiping the water from her face she blushed again and tried to cover up as much as she could about herself.

"Ehm... Gabriel? I can't find my towels..."

Nodding, Gabriel smiled as he looked up from the book, imagining just how awkward the Mortal's face must have looked when she mustered up the courage to ask for towels.

"Alright, I'll grab you some - just a second!"

He set the novel aside, not bothering to place a bookmark where he had paused - figuring he would not be returning to this mundane task. Drawing to his feet, he crossed the short distance to the closet and opened it, scanning the uppermost shelf. A pile of ivory cotton stared back at him, and so he scooped it up without delay. Two large bath sheets - enough to wrap oneself in with extra to spare. Especially if you had the slight build of a certain mortal female.
"Got the towels. Coming in, in five seconds. Best be ready.... five...four...three....two....one--"
Stepping inside, he saw a small, shapely bob of brown hair poking just above the rim of the tub. Setting one of the sheets on the white marble tile floor, he took the other and spread it wide in front of him, covering the level of his eyes.
"You can stand up now. Holding the blanket right behind you. I can't see a thing, I promise."

Marcus dawdled in the foyer for a bit, contemplating whether or not to visit Valerie as he had promised. Part of him pushed him onward, the Beast adamant that he should do as he wished and not as she preferred. The leftover part tried to cool his ardor, to little avail. She was his now. What's this about catering to her pathetic preferences, now? Yes, she was entirely his. In his mercy. He alone had the power to allow her to see her family again. Travel around the world. Make a home of her own. Have children.

Really?
For all that to happen, he would have to let her go and have a life with another. Someone who could be a man to her in every way.

No doubt Valerie had fantasized about the kind of man she would end up with, fantasizing in loving detail what he would be like.

Basically, the opposite of Valerian in every way.

Right now, she was teetering on the verge of insanity, more than like. Sick of being cooked up at The Crown. Unable to go wherever she wanted, whenever she wanted. Lingering in this wait-and-see hell.

Undoubtedly, she was on the verge of screaming as well, wanting to strangle Marcus - could she actually picture ending another being's life. And somehow, smelling the lethal danger surrounding her, Valerie recognized that for even the remotest chance of survival, she had one move open to her. A move risky as hell and entirely improbable.

Seducing him.

Part of Valerian wanted her to try it again. Musing on Valerie's repeat seduction had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he still craved her like crack.

Sure enough, he had awakened something in her as well.

All week, he'd been horny as hell, aching her hands on him, replaying what they'd done together. When he slept, he dreamed of suckling her, then thrusting his thick shaft inside her.

Enough waiting. Time to settle accounts. Long strides crossed the distance to Valerie's door, a swift knock and a sure twist of the knob - and he was letting himself in, no permission asked or required.

It was impossible to die of embarrassment but Valerie was sure giving it one hell of a try.

Hearing Gabriel tell her he was coming inside she did her best to hide her small frame behind hands and bubbles in the water. Having no idea if she was successful or not. She waited until he said he wasn't looking and were ready before she stood up in the bath. With familiar moves, she got out of the tub and reached out for the towel...

And of course, that was the moment she heard a knock on the door and then the door opening. There was just one person that would just walk into her room without her letting him in.

You in trouble now... Merde...

Grabbing the towel from Gabriel she almost asked him to hide as she wrapped the towel around herself and felt her heart skip a bit faster. Taking the other towel she quickly wrapped her hair up and looked to Gabriel as she called out.

"A moment please!"

Swallowing she took a deep breath and pushed at Gabriel.

"You need to go now. I will deal with him."

Walking over to the chair where her clothes were she waited for Gabriel to slip out of the bathroom before she started to dry herself off and get dressed again. The sweet smell of lilacs from her bath had meant to calm her, but it had no effect now when her heart was racing in her chest.

"I doubt he'll let you have that moment," Gabriel murmured under his breath knowing full well he was right. The Autarch waited for no one.
He was surprised that Valerie shoved him back once she was wrapped in the towel and walked over to the chair where her clothes waited. He was about to ask her whether he should hide in there or follow her out but since she imparted no instructions, the Toreador saw no reason to skulk about in the bathroom, alone. Plus, it wasn't like Valerian wouldn't have sensed his presence.
Walking out after Valerie, Gabriel resumed a seat in the chair, dragging the previously abandoned novel to his lap and popping it open in a random location. Fuck Marcus and his timing. Hopefully he'd walk in and walk the hell back out, seeing that his guest had ample company.
Wishful thinking.

What the flying fuck... was the cheeky Toreador doing here??

Normally, Marcus' gaze would have defaulted to Valerie's subtle and sweet form coming out to chastise him for disturbing her privacy but apparently, the said privacy was already being invaded.
An odor invaded his nostrils suddenly and Marcus found himself attempting to figure out what the hell it was assaulting his senses. Oh, yeah. Now it seemed familiar. Flowers.
Lilacs, to be precise. Is she trying to put me to sleep? Like that would even work, really....
In the back of his mind, he recalled the faint but distinct words that fell from his guest's sublime lips.
You need to go now. I will deal with him.
"Really, Valerie? And just how do you propose to deal....with me, then - hmm?"
He felt a rigid presence rise to the occasion upon seeing her - as the lady appeared to be - fresh out of the tub. Did she get herself cleaned up for his benefit alone? Heh, Marcus doubted that fervently. In the meantime, high time the welcome friend was out of the picture.
"Leave us, Villiers."
The Toreador better take his words at face value. Marcus would not utter them again.

Gabriel took his time before he looked up from the pages of his book which he previously appeared to be studying...most intently.

"Hmm? Oh, good evening....Marcus. Fancy seeing you dropping by! Valerie and I were just about to take our night cap. Tea?" He looked hopefully at the mortal woman, who was either mortified or completely dismayed at the interruption. Or maybe she was hopeful? It was hard to tell yet. "Shall I call for some fresh tea and a light supper?"
The Toreador seemed completely unperturbed by the Autarchs sudden entrance. Either that, or he hoped that his easy-going approach would unsettle the Ventrue and have him take off, heading back the way he came. Still, baiting an angry bull only went so far. Time to engage that age old charm.
"Care to join us, sir?"

Impertinent buffoon...

"Fine. Get me some AB-negative mixed with diluted sherry."

Marcus was willing to deal with some stomach issues later, if only it looked as if he was making a solid effort. And for what? He came here to talk to the mortal, alone. Again, Valerie foiled his plans by having the Toreador attend to her. On purpose? Or was it merely a coincidence and she did not wish to be rude?
Stepping over to the other chair, he considered taking a seat but not before acknowledging the hostess once again.
"You must have forgotten about our meeting, sweetheart. The exertions of last week must have taken a greater toll on your mind than I suspected. I totally understand. Sometimes, I have that effect."
Extending his hand to her, Marcus brushed her fingertips with his, attempting to clasp her palm in his....in greeting.

She had no idea where in the room Marcus was located or where Gabriel had moved to as they exited the bathroom. Heading straight for the chair where she had laid the pj's she had been wearing and the dressing robe she grabbed it as she heard Marcus speak. Her heart skipped a beat and she cursed that good hearing of his before turning around. Clothes clutched to her chest as she held the towel a little tighter around herself.

"Like a rational human being. I am assuming you want something since you are coming here."

Hearing him say for Gabriel to leave them she nodded softly hoping he would and not make matters worse by angering Marcus. But soon she could hear Gabriel speak, and she bit her lip as not to laugh at the easy-going tone of his voice. Clutching the clothes she hid the shiver of her hands as she listened to the exchange of words between the men.

Easy Gabriel... Don't make him angry at you as well...

Surprised with a skip of her heart she heard Marcus agree and ask for Gabriel to fetch them drinks. She wanted to shake her head in frustration. Had she not told him to leave? But here he was, staying, in an attempt to be her protector. Marcus spoke again, and this time made a flash of red come over her cheeks as she felt him take her hand. She let him as her eyes narrowed slightly.

"I must have forgotten about it as you forgot your manners that night."

It was a childish comment, and probably one Marcus didn't appreciate, but it felt good to say it. Letting go of his hand she turned to Gabriel and sighed.

"Thank you for keeping me company, Gabriel. But I need to talk to Marcus alone. We do still have an agreement for Monday? Will you pick me up here before we leave?"

Turning back to Marcus she actually sent him a quick smile, a polite one

"Make yourself comfortable. Give me a moment to get dressed and dried off and I will come back."

Her voice was steadier than she felt like when she spoke, and as soon as she was done, not really waiting for any reply from either of the men she moved to the bathroom to get dressed. And to make her hands stop shaking before she came back out again.

Gabriel had no intention on making the angry bull violent. But since Valerian was keen on having drinks, he would stay for at least the duration - then he'd make himself scarce. "Right. Let me take care of that now, then." Stepping out the door, he gave directions to his men stationed outside, then returned to the suite proper and resumed his seat. "I will stay for the first toast and then take off, Valerie."

The lady's request may have normally been paramount in his mind, but Marcus' ire was a far greater worry. He would try to meet the needs of both - half way. Even if it made Valerie uncomfortable for the first part. Crossing his long legs, Gabriel shot a glance to the Autarch. "Have a seat, Marcus. The drinks will be along, shortly."

Valerie did make some comments earlier, but Gabriel chose to ignore them. Taking any of them to heart might have resulted in a spontaneous fist to Marcus' face. Perhaps more than once. In fact, why not just pummel the douchebag till he was covered in his own blood? And what a glorious improvement that would make!

"Take your time. Marcus and I will share a drink and then I'll be as good as gone if that is what you desire."

Moments later, a ghoul came in with a silver tray, sporting a decanter, a teapot, a cup and two crystal glasses. Gabriel received the goods, then proceeded to pour some vitae into one crystal goblet - than another.

"To the House of Darkness and its Autarch - long may he reign."

Marcus observed the happenings without blinking an eye. He completely ignored Valerie's initial comment, since it went without saying that most rational beings did not just show up at the doorstep of another without a single purpose in mind. Let her wonder what his purpose was. No skin off his back.
The Toreador was in his usual buffoon form, attempting to play a gracious host inside someone else's house. How droll. Valerie's second comment almost tickled, and Marcus would only lift his dark gaze to hers in mute response, before letting it slide over the female's sensuous frame.
"You forget yourself, mademoiselle. It was precisely the manner in which I departed that left you alive."
Let the girl throw all the childish insults at him she could muster - Marcus could care less. His visit tonight had a reason and he would see it through. Naturally, after the pesky Toreador left. "Why, thank you for extending me your hospitality. As for your state of undress - you need not bother - it has never been a problem in the past," he taunted Valerie, then shrugged and sank into the proffered chair, casting his surroundings a quick glance over.
Nothing in the room seemed disturbed - particularly the bed - the Lasombra observed. Tuning out Gabriel and Valerie for a moment, he waited patiently as the drinks were brought in, then took the one handed to him by Villiers, and lifted it symbolically in acceptance of the toast.
"To Erebos."
Sipping the vitae in a leisurely manner, Marcus waited until Gabriel emptied his glass, then nodded as the Toreador stood up, set the goblet down and bowed lightly.
"Have yourself a good night, Villiers - oh, and thanks for keeping Valerie company tonight. I'm most obliged."
No, he really was not. But the Ventrue were all politeness and grace, as their high-mucky-muck sphere dictated. It was imperative to keep up appearances, lest Valerian's cover be unexpectedly blown. Leaning back in his chair, Marcus watched as his Toreador companion moved to the door and vanished behind it shortly after. Canting his head, he looked to the book laying on the table and smirked. So Valerie was reading classic vampire novels? Interesting. The heroines of that particular book both fell for the vampire anti-hero. Did she see herself as either of them? If so, Marcus could readily oblige her innermost fantasies.

If she were only willing to pay the price.

Ignoring both the men she stepped inside the bathroom and closed the door. Leaning against the door she could feel her hands shaking, but this time it was from anger. It was something she was unaccustomed to. Feel so embarrassed she was getting angry. Of course, she was going to get dressed, she had no intentions of being naked with him ever again.

You forget yourself, mademoiselle. It was precisely the manner in which I departed that left you alive. Fuck you, Marcus. That's more like it, after all, it hasn't been far from your mind. Shut up...

She could hear the men outside talking and toasting. She would have to get a move on or she was sure that Marcus would come inside and drag her out, clothes or not. Quickly she changed into the same silk ensemble she had been wearing when Gabriel had entered and wrapped the dressing robe around herself before she quickly dried off her hair and combed it. She didn't bother to do anything else with it, not wanting Marcus to think she was dressing up for him.

With a tight hold on the dressing robe and deep breath, she opened the door to the bathroom just as she heard Marcus tell Gabriel good night. Crossing her arms over her chest she smiled in what she hoped was Gabriel's direction.

"Goodnight Gabriel."

Her voice was soft as she spoke, she almost looked relaxed. At least until she heard the door close and she knew that Gabriel had left them. Then her shoulders tensed and it was clear that she was on edge, like someone waiting for an attack. Her heart was beating a bit faster, even if she tried to keep it under control. She didn't move from the bathroom door but instead leaned against the frame facing where she knew Marcus was sitting.

"And then there was just us. What can I do for you Marcus?"

For some reason, she didn't want to move closer. Instead, she was rather content with keeping some distance between them for now.

"Did you have a pleasant meeting with Lady LeCroix?"

She didn't really care but was trying to establish a calm and easy tone between them. Trying to keep the anger from his taunts out of her voice and instead try to find a cool and professional tone to speak in.

And then there was just us. What can I do for you Marcus?

Better yet, what can't you do for me? Is there anything you could actually deny me? Do you think?

Sweeping his gaze over Valerie's dressing robe, he scoffed. "Latest fashion from the seventeenth century? Not my particular favorite. And that's not the robe I got you."

Noting she was not too keen on closing the distance between them, Marcus chose to remedy that little issue, himself. It had been a week, after all. A whole week going without physically touching her, mentally tormenting her. Behold the ocean you will never touch, the jewels you will never own. Desire the female who will never want you as you want her, and feel the pleasure you will never experience again...

Bile rose in Valerian's throat. It isn't her. It's just not.

Even as a Mortal, he hadn't tortured his captives like this, and she was never his enemy to begin with. And he came so close to making Valerie's life a living hell.

Not her...not Valerie.

And yet, as his restlessness increased and his doubt weighed on him to a crushing degree, Marcus' first impulse was to reach out and touch Valerie.

Not because she was his intended Bride, but because she could pleasure him, making him forget his troubles for a time. Divia had never felt any desire for him. Not once. He could wait for the human - who did.

How do you know it won't be better with one of your own Kind? the Beast snarled.

Because it can't possibly be better with anyone. The words rocked Marcus -- the truth he dared not say aloud.

Am I willing to give up that pleasure? What choice did he have?

What is so superior with her? The Beast demanded. Tell me what Valerie does that puts you into such a lather. Do her thighs spread in welcome? Does she moan into your mouth?

Frustration mounted. He resented the Beast's interference now, more than ever.

Does she look at you with need?

Like she'll die if I don't fuck her, the Lasombra hissed, inwardly.

You should practice that expression in the mirror for when you make love to your Kindred Bride.

Oh, FUCK OFF! Marcus stabbed his fingers through his hair. You know that could never happen! Brief silence. You are the most singular male, the Beast said, unusual calm in its voice. It's not a question of sex; it's a question of her. Incredulous, the Beast taunted, You are falling for the mortal! Apprise yourself of this fact: soon you will destroy her very soul!

This, Marcus could not deny. There was no coupling between a Kindred and Kine that did not end in blood and eventually, death.

Now within inches of Valerie, he cupped the girl's nape with a shaking hand. The only thing greater than his need was his strength. Her mortal form was too fragile for him to claim for eternity. But he had to finish this, sooner or later.

Did you have a pleasant meeting with Lady LeCroix?

"I sense curiosity. I sense... regret. Did you miss me, bella? Did you spend all this time wondering just what we were doing behind those closed doors?"

Had she wanted Gabriel to fill her empty bed, he would not have been left to read a boring novel in a nearby chair. So Villiers wasn't even a decent diversion. Good. The little mortal may have acted cold and aloof to Marcus but she would not share her charms with his Toreador lackey, either. That answered everything Marcus needed to know. He would console himself with the thought that if he remained steadfast in his pursuit, he would soon have everything he ever wanted.

But he might have begun to want more.

Definitely more than a temporary concubine.

Eyes narrowed, he grated. "You have bathed for me. How considerate. Although I'd have preferred to see you in red silk tonight."

His comment about her attire was ignored, she had no interest in starting an argument over something as stupid as her pj's. She could hear him move, his steps bringing him close, making her heart skip a beat. She should have known that he would not be content keeping the distance between them. Moments later she could feel the cold that came off him and knew he was standing right in front of her. And when she felt him lay a hand on her neck she was surprised by the shake of his hand.

Stop... Don't. I can't think straight when you touch me...

Before he came she had been so determined that he would not touch her, that she was going to keep her distance with him. But now she could feel her willpower draining through the cold touch of his hand. She swallowed softly and took a shaking breath through her nose as he answered her question.

"I am... Just making conversation. I didn't like Lady LeCroix much so I am just wondering how close the two of you are and if I will have to deal more with her."

Pink heat came to her cheeks

"I didn't do it for you. I bathe every night before I go to bed... And what colour am I wearing? I just picked it from the fabric..."

He was so close it was affecting her senses. The smell of him making her mind heavy as her mind was assaulted by memories of last time he had been in her room. She hadn't expected it, had expected to keep being angry with him. To shove and scream if he tried to touch her again, but all she could do was stand still and try to think straight.

Marcus smirked at the comment. She was delightful and at times like these, it was impossible to ignore.

"I will let you in on a little secret," he murmured, his mouth inches away from Valerie's throat. "No one likes Lady LeCroix."

Did she really want to know how 'close' they were? Why did it matter? Oooh, I see. "You are jealous." One of his hands reached for hers, lifting the slender softness to his lips. "I cannot help but be touched," words punctuated by a soft kiss. "As to your question, I am close to everyone I need to keep....close to me. Does that help you at all, bella?" Marcus released her hand, wondering if she would attempt to slap him with it.

No matter. Her heaviest hit would probably just elicit another turn-on, on his part.

"Anyway." I would much rather have you beside me in my bed.... my fingers trailing from your navel to the valley between your breasts... "They say cleanliness is next to Godliness, so I approve whether you care or not - spare me the comments on that end." Releasing her nape, he stepped back and looked over her shoulder into the bathroom. "Did the ever-helpful Mister Villiers wash your back? No matter. I've decided to give you a chance to atone for your earlier insolence at dinner."

Insolence? The girl failed to eat and now you're going to punish her for it? Oh, Marcus - how low you have fallen...

He moved to capture Valerie's wrists in one of his hands, lifting...then pinning them above her. Free hand moved to cover one of her breasts, gently kneading as his face nuzzled the graceful valley between the shoulder and neck.

"Mmm... lilacs? A lovely scent."

His honest revealing of how most felt about Divia made her huff amused. Good, then she didn't have to feel bad for the image of a snake that had come to her mind when the woman spoke. Feeling how he came closer to her throat she felt her heart skip, and she was about to shove him away from her he took her hand and lifted it to his lips. Her heart doing another skip when he called her jealous, and heat spread over her chest.

"Why would I be jealous?"

Even as she said it she realized she had actually felt a bit jealous. And it scared her enough that her heart beat a bit faster. When he dropped her hand she almost hid it behind her back. Listening to him speak her brows furrowed together a bit, she felt him let go of her and her breathing got a bit softer, not as tense.

Insolence?

She was about to tell him how stupid he was being for asking her something like that when he grabbed her wrists. A surprised yelp came from her when he lifted them above her head. Pulling at her wrists she tried to get loose, her brows furrowing together annoyed.

"LET G...Hmph"

A muffled sound broke off what was supposed to be an order, as a shiver going through her from the hand on her breast. She felt her nipple harden against the fabric of her pj's. A small sigh managed to come from her even though she was biting her lip, goosebumps erupting on her skin when he nuzzled her neck. Again she tried to pull her wrists loose from his grip, even though she knew they were not getting loose unless he wanted to let her go.

This was exactly what she had not wanted to happen. For him to get his hands on her. But at the same time, she knew she had wanted it for a week.

"I am not familiar with that phrase.... is it foreign?"

She was struggling, as much as her slight frame would allow, anyway. Not that she could budge him without him receding freely. Unhappy with his touch? She did not appear to want him. Well, her nipple apparently did - but that did not mean jack in the grand scheme of things.

Bah, how pathetic! So the Mortal refuses to be like she was with you the previous time - when she melted for you? Maybe she finally understands what a nasty piece of work you truly are!

Because of some party-crashers? The little scene in the cellar? Come now, it's not as if I went around cock-slapping babies!

Indeed. And still, she clearly thinks you are an amazing fellow. A deadly, wretched, friendless monster. Pretty on the outside and not much more. Gods, just slash her throat and put the Mortal out of her misery!?

NO. She will be like she was with me before.

And yet, the struggle did not diminish, it simply continued. "There." He could tell she did not want any more of his touch or proximity. Disgusted, Marcus released Valerie's hands, even stopped the skillful play of his fingers against her breast.... then stepped out of the way in case she was intent on scurrying away from him. This much, he would allow.

And she did not even say his name, never mind beg him to take her...tell him she needed him, that she desired him alone. He had felt her tremble, could have sworn she was getting slick without touching her down there. Why was she being so stubborn?? For seven days, he thought of making love to her with his mouth and hands. And seeing her at dinner earlier tonight, Marcus was convinced she needed him as he had her. The distance he put between them now underlined the vulnerability in Marcus that was almost his undoing. But then he went back on the aggressive.

"Fuck this. I've got a week's worth of seed for you -- and you are already on the verge." Dark gaze dropped below her waist, and he imagined stroking her there, between those slender, wanton thighs. "You might not ask with words, but your body is pleading."

She could hear him taunt her and it sent a new blush to her cheeks. But she did not say anything. Just kept trying to get her hands free as her body suffered a new tremble. She had missed it. The feeling of his hands on her, the brush of his lips, and now her body was more than happy to have it again. In her mind, something was screaming, telling her that it was wrong, that this wasn't her. She wasn't the kind of girl that trembled from someone's touch.

What if I want to be? What if I want to stop worrying about what is wrong and what is right all the time? It's exhausting...

With a single word he let go of her, even stepped back to give her some room. Her breathing tense and shaking she leaned against the wall, her hands dropped at her side as she tried to calm her body and the fire he had kindled inside her. Her first instinct was to move away, to put distance between them again. That voice in her head reminding her that had been the plan. Anger and distance, so why wasn't she following up on it?

When he spoke again her cheeks flushed. So much for thinking it had been a one-time thing that had put him off the desire for more.

"You might not ask with words, but your body is pleading."

"So what if it is? It was you who told me the best I could offer for you was the sensation of feeding off me and if I remember correctly you don't even drink human blood anymore. And then you were the one who left. Leaving me to sit here alone, feeling disgusting and useless. So forgive me for being confused by you now suddenly having this burning desire for me."

It surprised her to hear that her voice wasn't aggressive. She was so angry with him for having put her through hell the past week. A week of feeling self-loathing and worthless. So why was her voice so hurt instead? Her breathing was still shaking. Clearly, her body had no intention of calming down anytime soon, and she knew he would see it.

I hate that I want you. I shouldn't. I should be running as far away as my feet will carry me. Do as Gabriel say and get out of here. So why can't I move? Instead, I am craving more.

At first, Marcus felt the instant temptation to deflect her statements. What she threw back at him was true - from a certain point of view. He did not desire human blood, not for some time. It was her, he wanted. Like a drug, he found it increasingly difficult to say no to - especially with her continued presence in this house. And Valerie? She did not exactly help make things harder on him, either. She could have made herself less desirable and yet - seemed to have achieved quite the opposite effect.

"Tell me to leave, and I will."

She won't say it. She is beginning to feel something for you. And if not you, then this setting, this world - she is starting to get pulled in by it, seduced by the forbidden promises it holds... most Mortals fall prey to our kind because of fear - but this one... no, this one does not fear you, Marcus. She has tender thoughts toward you. That makes her ripe for your needs. Seduce her. Take her. Drink from her. Make her one of us...

Thrusting his hands deep into his pockets, Marcus looked away from Valerie, tense with frustration. Waiting for her to speak. Inside his trousers' pockets, his fists clenched, his expression heralding another rage if the silence did not break soon.

"Tell me to leave and I will."

The words rang through her head. A part of her was cheering, throwing a fucking parade at having won the battle. All that was left was to say it and he would leave her alone. She wouldn't have to deal with him giving her a new emotional whiplash. But then there was the part of her that felt sad, that instinctually wanted to reach out and hold him tight. Run her lips over his skin until she found his. It felt like there was a major battle inside her, one she already knew how it would end.

Don't you dare. We got what we wanted, now send him packing. Let him go back to that Lady LeCroix, let him find someone else to hold him. It's not what good girls do.

"I don't want you to leave..."

The words fell out before she could even think about it. A soft whisper that anyone else probably would have had trouble hearing. But she knew he would hear it. She stood still, waiting for his next move, her heart beating nervously in her chest as the voice in her head screamed furiously. Still, trying to make her move. But she felt frozen in place. Trying to understand what was going on, how she had come to feel like there were two different versions of her desperately trying to be the one in control.
