Catch! is a "reaction skill" used to intercept ranged projectile attacks such as those caused by the Thrown Weapons or Grenade skill. It is used as an opposed roll against the attacking player.
Should the defender win, they successfully catch the weapon or object thrown at them in the first place, rather than being hit by it.
Attempting to catch a bladed weapon, or object that deals damage by physically striking the defender, inflicts a -1D penalty to the Catch! roll.
For every 1D characters have in either the Running or Acrobatics skills, a character may attempt to run or leap to catch an object within 1 meter of their location. (I.E. Alonzo has 5D Running, he may move to catch an item thrown within 5 meters of his person.) Doing so counts as a movement action on the defenders next round.
Characters that possess the Counter skill may attempt to throw a successfully caught item back at their attacker. The attack roll for this throw is equal to the Catch! roll minus the initial attack roll against the defender.
