A character possessing this advanced skill does not need to make a Running check to guard a character with their body. A character may guard another person anywhere within five (5) meters of his/herself, as opposed to three (3). In addition, the guard may be done at ANY time during the round, INCLUDING after damage has been rolled, but before the round is over. In addition, the character sacrifices only 1 action during their next round to perform a Guard, instead of 2.
A player who declares guard must attempt to block the shot incoming for the character they have declared to protect. To this end it is UNADVISABLE to roll Dodge, as that will expose your guarded target and have him/her take the hit intended for you. If you intend to protect your target, you must use a reaction skill that does not expose him or her to enemy attack(s), such as: Weapon skill (Lightsaber), or alternatively - you may choose to take damage for the character you are guarding (roll Armor to soak). Guard may only be employed for those who have learned the skill or those currently learning it (at -1D to whatever blocking skill they choose to use).
