Arrakeen

This is one of the largest metropolitan areas on Arrakis and its seat of power. Located near the northern pole of the planet, it sat largely on a mass of bedrock. This, in conjunction with the protection afforded by the Shield Wall, prevented any incursions from sandworms. Aside from providing the governing influence with a base of operations, the chief activities in Arrakeen were trade with off-world groups and individuals, and as a gathering point for some Fremen who preferred a more 'cultured' or exotic life.

Palace of Arrakeen

A megastructure in Arrakeen, the Palace is home to Count Fenring the Imperial Observer on Arrakis. Designed to intimidate, the fortress is described as being gigantic enough to enclose multiple cities. Among its many attraction, the Palace of Arrakeen houses an Audience Chamber, the Meeting Hall, the Banquet Hall, numerous security offices/posts as well as the entrance to the Imperial Gardens. Other sections of the Palace include (but are not limited to): the Palatial Wing, the Imperial Wing, and the Antique Wing.
