HOUSE MALEDICTUS PROFILENoble Titles: Exarch; former Lord Diviner & Guardian
Allegiance: House Maledictus
Holdings: Red Wolf [Elysium]
Motto: Audeamus [Let Us Dare]
The antithesis of House Concordia, the name Maledictus is reviled throughout Erebos for its tyrannical brutality and flagrant contempt for the high traditions of the Kindred. Spurned by the assembled Houses of Erebos for an act of secession from the latter, House Maledictus fled into exile - although that was hardly the end of their troubles. Hunted down by the vengeful Vindicta and having endured nearly three centuries of disgrace and hardship, the Maledictus have risen from their ashes and began rebuilding their house from the ruins of ignominy.
Through deft manipulation and careful investment, the House Maledictus have methodically increased their status among the Kindred - at one point in time having achieved a full membership within Erebos. Grudgingly acceded by the latter's council, Maledictus cultivated their goals and ambitions within Erebos, without realizing just how much their objectives threatened the sovereignty of another great House. Without warning, the Vindicta struck first. The Maledictus Guardian - the venerable Validus Auctor - was assassinated and along with him, his entire bloodline. The diablerie was never proven, much to the rage of Maledictus elders - forcing the House to split from Erebos and flee into a self-imposed exile. Had they stayed, the remainder of them would have likely been struck down by the vengeful Vindicta. As they vanished from sight, Maledictus forced themselves to learn patience, secretly anticipating the day their vengeance upon the Vindicta and Erebos as a whole, would be complete.
Driven by their hatred and yearning for revenge, House Maledictus initiated a voracious campaign to increase their strength. Some unreliable sources among the Kindred spies have reported that House Maledictus may have established a power-base in the heart of Napa Valley's metropolis of New Babylon, but such a dubious and questionable allegation is yet to be proven.
Directed by the nefarious Anarch and his right hand, the vile Exarch - both grossly corrupted tyrants notorious for their perversions and cunning, House Maledictus exploits its power and influence to make bold and daring gains - in spite of their low numbers and constant danger of eradication. Committing the worst abuses and enacting the most vile of practices, the Maledictus mercilessly drive their followers, oppress their holdings, and defile their titles, inspiring fear and loathing wherever they may roam.
Unabashed, House Maledictus is proud of its opprobrious success, perhaps made callous from its many years of inglorious hiding. They embrace the ideology of the carnivore, accepting the natural order of predator and prey. While this philosophy has always made them unpopular in Erebos, they accept condemnation from the 'lesser beasts who flock together for their mutual protection'. Nonplussed by their censure, House Maledictus aims to cut them from the herd, permitting no shepherd, especially the damnable Vindicta, to thwart them in their return to the top of the Immortal food chain.
A megalomaniac of grandiose delusions and insatiable appetite, Silas, the Anarch of Maledictus rules his House with a clenched and brutal fist. At his side stands the twisted Warden, a sadistic killer and accomplished assassin.
- House Erebos - "What goes around, comes around."
- House Limbus - "Damned are those whose indifference shines brighter than their hate."
- House Tenebris - "Your wretched kind is so made that those who walk on the well-trodden path always throw stones at those who are showing a new road.”
- House Vindicta - "The worst place in hell is reserved for traitors."
- House Concordia - "Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust."
