From 1987 to 1998, the Pennsylvania based company West End Games released official Star Wars role-playing game sourcebooks, adventure supplements, guides, and the Star Wars Adventure Journal, all of which contained new stories set in the Star Wars universe, some as prose, but most as adventure scenarios for use in the game. All of this material was approved by Lucasfilm and later made its way into the background (and occasional foreground) material of the novels and comic-books that comprised the Star Wars Expanded Universe.
Due to the owner's poor choice to siphon money from West End Games into his failing shoe company Bocce Imports, done in a last-ditch attempt to keep it afloat, West End Games went under and lost the Star Wars license. Two years later, Wizards of the Coast picked it up, and ran with their own sourcebooks and supplements for a decade until they let it lapse in 2010. Fantasy Flight Games now holds the license and from 2012 on has continued to produce new and exciting role-playing game sourcebooks, guides and adventures.
With the West End Games material now long out-of-print, and expensive and time-consuming to track down on the second-hand market, I have made it available here as free digital PDFs for fans new and old to enjoy! The following are arranged by type of product. The West End Games number follows each title. This list also includes professionally-produced PDF continuations of the D6 West End Games series written by fans, and indicated by any linked title that does not have the West End Games number following it.
In addition, we have post-West End Games material made by writers and dedicated fans. Included in this group is the Star Wars Adventurer's Journal, a quarterly magazine that will be releasing 15 issues with all-new content, and cleaned-up versions of 16-18.
Special thanks to the individual(s) who initially scanned these, as well as to Thiago S. Aranha and the people at Womp Rat Press and the REUP team, Dave Amberson, Don Diestler, Mike Fett, Keith Kilburn, Peter Lomas, Joseph McHorter, Oliver Queen, David Stairs, Daniel Stull, Michael Fraley, and others for carrying the torch and continuing where West End Games left off, such as Brian L Bird and his team.
